Norman Reedus Shares Update After Walking Dead Season 11 Set Injury
The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus shares an update after suffering a concussion on set, saying he'll return to filming in a few days.

The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus gives an update on the concussion he recently suffered on the set of season 11. The Walking Dead is currently filming the final episodes for the long-running zombie drama, with its eleventh season currently airing on Sundays on AMC. Reedus, along with co-star Melissa McBride, is expected to star in a spinoff of the main series, along with a long slate of other film and television spinoffs greenlit by the network.
The Walking Dead follows a group of survivors after a zombie virus outbreak destroys the world, starting with a small group before expanding into entire communities. Reedus plays Daryl, the show’s breakout character who is not originally in the comics, and has received top billing since the ninth season saw the departure of original leading man Andrew Lincoln. Alongside The Walking Dead, Reedus has had starring roles in The Boondock Saints and the video game Death Stranding.
In an update on Instagram, Reedus says that he’s been cleared to return to work on March 22 after suffering a concussion on set earlier this week. He also apologizes for missing a The Walking Dead fan event in Atlanta due to the injury, saying he was really looking forward to it. Lastly, he also thanks his fans for sending condolences over the loss of his cat, which he shares a picture of. Take a look below:

Filming of the show’s final episodes was delayed to accommodate Reedus’ recovery time, and his quick clearance indicates the injury wasn’t severe enough to push back filming for too long. The Walking Dead is no stranger to injuries on set, with Reedus badly injuring his arm in the fifth season. Additionally, stuntman John Bernecker tragically lost his life while filming the show’s eighth season, with his family suing AMC and production company Stalwart Films for negligence and eventually being awarded $8.6 million in damages in court.
Over his tenure on The Walking Dead, Reedus has become a household name and a fan favorite, and with a spinoff on the way, his time as Daryl is nowhere near finished. In the meantime, it’s important to remember that the safety of those who work on a series or movie is far more important than the project itself. Though the injury itself was minor, the people behind The Walking Dead should take the necessary steps to make sure every precaution is taken to ensure the safety of all the talented people that make The Walking Dead what it is.
