Kim Kardashian Shares IG Post Saying July 4th Is Canceled
The Kardashians' Kim Kardashian shares a post on her Instagram story saying that the 4th of July is canceled this year due to recent political events.

Kim Kardashian did not throw a lavish Independence Day party this year as The Kardashians star shared a post to her Instagram Story saying that the 4th of July is canceled. The holiday is meant to celebrate the day the Declaration of Independence was ratified; however, in recent years, many Americans have felt far less patriotic than they have in the past. For example, for a few years, superstar Taylor Swift made headlines annually for her huge 4th of July bash that took place at her beachside home in Rhode Island. The parties featured A-list guests like models Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne and singer Ed Sheeran. Taylor’s parties came to an end after 2016 when Donald Trump won the presidential election, and the star admitted that with his discriminatory attitude, she no longer felt like celebrating a country run by such a hateful administration.
The lack of desire to celebrate the 4th of July worsened in 2020 after Americans spent most of June protesting police brutality after the devastating murder of George Floyd. A few weeks ago, the Supreme Court made the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade after nearly 50 years of its existence. Women everywhere have already been put in danger, and as their rights are stripped away, Americans are finding it hard to make time to celebrate a country that isn’t as free as it claims to be.
Reality TV star Kim is one of those Americans who’s not so thrilled about the holiday after the overturning of Roe v. Wade. After sharing a few birthday posts for a friend, Kim shared a post to her Story from the Instagram account @bitton that said, “4th of July has been canceled due to a shortage of Independence. Sincerely, Women.” Kim added an emoji with a finger pointing up at the post, emphasizing its importance. The star and her sisters have been vocal on social media about the Supreme Court’s decision.

When the decision was made, Kim, Kourtney Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian all shared posts on their Instagram Story letting their followers know where they stand on the issue. One post Kourtney shared pointed out that guns have more rights in the United States than women do. Kim’s younger sisters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, also stood in solidarity with women by supporting Roe v. Wade on social media. Kendall called the decision disturbing, while Kylie shared a few images pointing out how dangerous the choice is. Kendall, however, is not boycotting the holiday and was seen celebrating the July 4th weekend with her friends in The Hamptons.
Unfortunately, fans will not be getting a behind-the-scenes look at a Kardashian 4th of July party this year. The family may love a good themed party, and they certainly love sharing their events on social media for their fans to see, but this is one holiday Kim is skipping. The star isn’t alone in her choice to treat the holiday like any other summer day and has every right to be frustrated. Luckily, The Kardashians star can still spend July 4th enjoying the summer weather; it’s just likely she’ll be staying away from the colors red, white and blue for the day.
