EXCLUSIVE: Gigi Hadid’s real estate tycoon father Mohamed tells DailyMail.com he ‘likes’ his daughter’s rumored new fling Leonardo DiCaprio and reveals they’ve been ‘good friends’ for a while – but stops short of confirming the romance
Gigi Hadid’s father – real estate tycoon Mohamed Hadid – tells DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview that he ‘likes’ Leonardo DiCaprio.
Mohamed’s 27-year-old model daughter and the 47-year-old actor were pictured together for the first time Monday since news of their suspected romance broke.
‘I met Mr. DiCaprio in St. Tropez four or five years ago and he is a very nice man,’ the 73 year-old developer said. ‘I liked him.’
Of Gigi’s relationship with the movie star, he added, ‘They are friends – they have known each other for some time.
‘I have not spoken to my daughter about Mr. DiCaprio. I don’t think they are dating – I believe they are just good friends. But I really don’t know.’
Asked how he’d feel if Gigi told him that she and Leo are, in fact, an item, Mohamed said, ‘I don’t comment on my daughter’s personal relationships.
‘I have no say in who she is dating.’

If Leo and Gigi are a couple, it would be the first time the Oscar winner has ever openly dated a woman older than 25, and Gigi would also be the first woman he has dated who is a mother.
Leo is freshly single after ending things this month with girlfriend of four years Camila Morrone, just two months after she turned 25.
Photos snapped at the exclusive party Monday, which was thrown at Casa Cipriani by Leo’s friends Richie Akiva and Darren Dzienciol in Manhattan, show the actor dressed in a black short-sleeve shirt and a black baseball cap while sporting his usual goatee.
Leo and Gigi – who wore a white crop top revealing her toned midriff, along with baggy jeans – could be seen leaning in close together as they tried to chat in the midst of the loud party.
The A-listers looked to be a little handsy, as the Once Upon A Time in Hollywood star appeared to put his hands on the model’s shoulders.
They even appeared to reach out to one another at one point, possibly to hold hands.

Following the new pictures, a source close to to the couple said while they are dating, they are ‘taking it slow.’
The source went on to say that the couple have been out together, just the two of them, and have been hanging out in groups. But the pair not calling themselves ‘exclusive’ just yet.
The person added: ‘[Leo] is not someone who is in-and-out of relationships. He doesn’t jump around hooking up. They are taking it slow.’
Although Leonardo appears to have set his sights on Gigi, an insider told E! News on Tuesday that he is ‘enjoying being single,’ and the two are ‘not exclusive.’
A source close to the model also claimed to the publication that ‘neither of them want a relationship’ at the moment.
‘Gigi and Leo have hung out multiple times and are into each other. Gigi thinks he’s a really cool guy,’ they said. ‘Majority of their hangouts have stemmed from being in the same social circles at various parties.’
The actor and climate activist’s ‘romance’ with Gigi comes following reports in recent days that he has been pursuing her.
A source told Us Weekly last week that Leo had ‘his sights set on Gigi,’ but ‘she doesn’t want to be romantic with [him] right now.’
