“Last night was a midsummer night’s dream,” reads the caption to Lily Collins’ recent Instagram post. Illuminated by the golden hour sun, she ever-so-gracefully posed in a sheer, long-sleeve fishnet dress with rhinestones that danced and dazzled in the light.
The Emily in Paris actor completed the airy look with a silky slip underneath and matching open-toe heels. She appeared to have stepped out of the pages of a romantic fairytale. This was fitting for Collins, as she had spent her weekend in Stockholm, Sweden, for the Max Mara Resort ‘24 show, inspired by Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf’s modern reinventions of classical myths and fables.
Collins wore her folkloric, monochromatic ensemble to the Italian fashion house’s welcome dinner the evening before the presentation. She kept her beauty look natural with soft glittery eyeshadow, long lashes, and a dusty rose lip, done by makeup artist Aurélie Payen. Further, beach waves fit for the Scandinavian summer framed her face, with a colorful floral wreath nestled atop her head.
Collins kept the sheer serves coming with her get-up the following day. Clad in all black at the Max Mara presentation, which took place at Stockholm’s Grand City Hall on June 11, she directly contrasted her previous look, and this outfit appeared to be the darker, edgier older sister to the first. She wore a translucent black turtleneck and deep-v lace top underneath, styled with a shining brocade skirt and liquidy jet-black corset. Her makeup palette darkened, too, as she paired deep-red mascara with a glossy lip.
Celebrities such as Noah Cyrus, Megan Fox, and Sydney Sweeney have increasingly incorporated gauzy, layered looks and items with their wardrobes. Collins is no stranger to elevating such trends to fit her own signature chic, feminine style, which she only further affirmed through her latest embrace of all things semi-see-through.
Whether you prefer her sparkling fishnet gown or her fitted vampy top, it’s crystal clear to us that Collins reigns in the art of sheer dress.
