Perhaps the greatest part about Keanu Reeves’ interviews are when the actor is asked random questions about his life. Jimmy Kimmel took this approach, and found out about Keanu’s experience with a ghost. As we’re going to reveal in the following, the same held true for Stephen Colbert. The late night host asked Keanu if he ever got anyone else’s autograph. The actor revealed it happened twice, once for a friend, and the other was for him.
However, it turned out to be a disappointing experience for the A-lister. Keanu thought he got a vulgar personalized message from the person along with the autograph. However, that wasn’t the case, and it seems like the person did that for most things that he signed.
We’ll take a closer look at that very moment, while also showcasing Keanu’s generous acts with the fans.
Keanu Reeves Was Always A Class Act With The Fans And Didn’t Let Fame Get To Him
When it comes to the way he treats fans and deals with fame, few do it better than him. For Keanu, taking on roles is a privilege and something that has helped him escape the many traumas that took place in his life.
He tells SCMP about how great it is to work on films, “Working a lot and constantly moving from one film set to another has been important in helping me overcome some of the more painful times in my life. Every film set gives me the feeling that I’m part of a new family and I feel fortunate to be able to have a job that gives me a lot of satisfaction.”
As far as fame goes, Keanu admitted this was never an issue, and he was able to keep focus at what he truly wanted out of his career. It was something as simple as making films.
“I’ve always kept my distance from all the fame. I never lived my life as a function of what was said or written about me. I just love the way I’m still as interested in acting as I ever was. Acting has always given me a structure and purpose in life and I’ve never found anything else to invest myself in the way I do when I’m acting or working on films.”
It is hard to believe but throughout his career, Keanu Reeves did ask one person for his autograph. We’ll reveal who that was, and why the moment was tainted.
Keanu Reeves Asked George Carlin For His Autograph, And It Came With A Foul Message
Keanu Reeves actually asked for two autographs throughout his career, but in fairness, one of them was for a friend. Keanu got Lou Reed’s autograph for a buddy, and that process was completely innocent. However, he did want one in particular for himself, and that was from George Carlin.
Keanu wasn’t sure if he should share the story with Stephen Colbert, given that it involved some foul language. Thankfully, he went on with it, revealing that Carlin wrote a special f*** you note with the autograph. However, Keanu was down when he found out that Carlin typically did this with other fans as well.
“It was really funny because George Carlin, he wrote ‘Dear Keanu, f*** you.’ And I always thought he wrote that for me, and I met someone else who said that he wrote the same thing to them,” the actor revealed.
It is truly great to see Keanu show some fandom for a certain act. Without a doubt, it is a moment he’ll never forget.
Keanu Reeves Went Above And Beyond For Fans Doing More Than Signing An Autograph
Agreeing to an autograph is a nice gesture, however, as far as Keanu’s career has gone, the actor has done so much more with the fans. We’ve seen countless examples of Keanu giving his time to strangers, and taking on a casual conversation. This really isn’t anything knew either. A prop designer claims Keanu was the same way early on in his career, buying the entire crew behind the scenes breakfast, just because he’s a good dude.
The prop designer writes on Reddit, “Back in the late 90s and fresh out of college I got my first job as an assistant prop designer on the set of Chain Reaction (Keanu was a supporting actor with Morgan Freeman). EVERY DAY for the last few weeks of filming, Keanu treated the stage hands and “grunt workers” (including myself) by taking us out for free breakfast and lunch. He was genuinely a very nice guy to work with.”
He continues, “Since then, I’ve worked on about 30 different sets and have never met an actor as generous and friendly as him.”
There are so many other stories showing Keanu’s generous ways, like even giving up his salary to others. Nobody does things quite like the Matrix star.
