Gal Gadot

Wonder Woman 1984

Among the very best of DC’s big screen superhero outings, Wonder Woman’s second adventure jumps ahead from the First World War to the glitzy excesses of 1984. It’s bright, exciting stuff that sees Gal Gadot’s Amazonian warrior facing off against Kristen Wiig’s vengeful Catwoman Cheetah and a failing businessman (The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal) with the ability to make wishes real.

Gadot is magnificent as Wonder Woman herself, mixing charm, kindness and strength into a graceful superheroic package, but she’s almost matched by Chris Pine as love interest Steve Trevor. Resurrected after nearly 70 years, watching him cope with the weirdness of 1980s life is engagingly comic. (151 minutes)
