Keanu Reeves

Would it be accurate to refer to Keanu Reeves as John Wick in The Continental?

The Continental, a series of action-thrillers created for television by Peacock, stars Keanu Reeves as the iconic hitman.

Keanu Reeves’ portrayal of Jardani Jovonovich, the late hitman, in the ‘John Wick’ franchise is highly regarded.

‘The Continental’ is a prequel to the mainline films, with Reeves starring in the lead roles. However, the show’s primary subject matter is Winston Scott, an ally of Reeves’ John Wick and the general manager of the titular hotel. The prequel series is set decades before the movies and is based on the 1970s. Hence, Keanu Reeves is not expected to feature in the series, largely due to storytelling limitations.

The franchise reveals that John was born on September 12, 1964, which means he would be in his early teenage years. Therefore, it seems unlikely that Reeves would return to his beloved role in the TV series, given that they have such close connections. Additionally, there are no plans to cast Reeves or John Wick in the prequel series. Nevertheless, given the close relationship between Winston and John, it is still possible for the character to feature in a younger version of the role, and a younger actor could play the role.

In 2023, Reeves’ John Wick debuted in the sequel “John Wick: Chapter 4,” but the film’s intentionally unclimactic finale offers an opportunity for him to return in a potential fifth installment. Meanwhile, John Wick supporters can anticipate the arrival of “Baba Yaga” in the upcoming ‘Ballerina’ movie starring Ana de Armas.
