Will there be a season 12 of The Walking Dead?
The Walking Dead aired its first episode on October 31, 2010, and fans who watched that premiere episode were hooked in immediately. The introduction of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was iconic, especially to fans of the comic book series created by Robert Kirkman. The series is currently airing the eleventh season, and many wonder if there will be a twelfth season.
Rick Grimes may be long gone, but the series has weathered on without him. Many think the series has suffered from his departure and others feel it is still a great show. Most fans hope to see this character again in the promised Walking Dead movies.
Throughout the series, characters have come and gone, but two original characters remain. Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) have withstood losing many people in their lives and held their ground against many foes.
Is there a season 12 of The Walking Dead?
Sadly, there will be no season 12 of The Walking Dead. The eleventh season will be the final chapter in this story. The comic book’s storyline has also ended, but since the series doesn’t always follow that story, it was thought it would continue much longer.
The Walking Dead’s eleventh season consists of 24 episodes, released in three parts, eight episodes each. Part 1 aired earlier in 2021, and part 2 will premiere on AMC on February 20, 2022.
But, never fear, the fandom is far from ending. Fear the Walking Dead will have the mid-season premiere for the seventh season in April 2022 and renewed for an eighth season.
Tales of the Walking Dead is another spin-off set to release in the summer of 2022. This will be an anthology series that can open up the TWD universe. This series will tell episodial stories that could focus on any timeline in the universe and center around any characters, new or old. It is an exciting premise for a series, and the hope is they will use it to its full capacity and give us some outstanding content.
The above-mentioned original characters, Carol and Daryl, are also scheduled to have their own spin-off series showrun by current TWD showrunner Angela Kang. The synopsis for this series has yet to be revealed, but fans of the duo are excited for what is to come.
