Gal Gadot’s 2021 wrap-up video fuels speculation that Wonder Woman will cameo in The Flash. Warner Bros. and DC Films have spent the last several years working on a solo film for Ezra Miller’s Flash. The movie finally made progress when Andy Muschietti signed on to direct Christina Hodson’s script. The Flash will deal heavily with the concept of the multiverse as it acts as a loose adaptation of Flashpoint. It is confirmed that the story will bring back various DC Extended Universe characters and others from past DC movies.
In addition to starring Ezra Miller’s Flash and Kiersey Clemons’ Iris West, The Flash’s cast list is rapidly filling up with a variety of DC characters. Ben Affleck is returning in what is expected to be his final DCEU appearance as Batman. Meanwhile, Michael Keaton is returning as Bruce Wayne for the first time in thirty years thanks to The Flash. Audiences will also meet Sasha Calle’s Supergirl for the first time here. It was also recently confirmed that the rewriting of Superman’s DCEU story will see Michael Shannon’s General Zod and Antje Traue’s Faora-Ul return despite their deaths in Man of Steel.
Now, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has teased her appearance in The Flash as well. The actress shared a video on Instagram recapping what 2021 was like for her. When the July and August section of the video takes place, there are clues that support theories of Wonder Woman having a role in The Flash. Gadot is shown in a makeup chair in July, and the red and yellow lanyard around a crew member’s neck matches one for Facil Productions that other members of The Flash’s crew have been spotted wearing. Additionally, Gadot shows herself wearing the Wonder Woman crown while getting her hair done in August. This isn’t the first time that Wonder Woman has been linked to an appearance in The Flash. During a much older version of the movie that was a more direct adaption of Flashpoint, it was reported that Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa were both going to appear. Wonder Woman and Aquaman are at war with each other in the Flashpoint storyline originally. It seemed that the plan changed drastically from that point, though, making it unclear if either would still appear. Thanks to Gadot’s latest teases, it does look more likely that Wonder Woman will indeed cameo in The Flash.
Wonder Woman’s The Flash return could be the first of a few appearances Gal Gadot makes before Wonder Woman 3. It was recently rumored that she’ll appear in Shazam: Fury of the Gods. If both of these DCEU movie roles come to fruition, Wonder Woman’s place as the face of the DCEU will be solidified. Affleck’s Batman is about to formally exit, and there is no word on Henry Cavill’s Superman future improving. Wonder Woman is easily the DCEU’s biggest character, so it is understandable that the studios want to keep using her in various projects like The Flash until her solo sequel is ready.
