Fans of the long-running series The Walking Dead look ahead to the eleventh season with bittersweet emotions. As fans long for the next episode to find out what will happen next, especially with the part one finale cliffhangers, they know each episode brings the inevitable final episode of the series closer. The question on viewers’ minds is when will The Walking Dead return to AMC?
The final season is divided into three parts, with the first eight episodes airing in 2021. Season eleven started with excitement as more was learned about the Commonwealth, Eugene, and the others captured by the military from that community. Alexandria is in dire need of supplies as their numbers have increased as this is where the residents of the Kingdom and Hilltop have ended up after those communities fell. There was a new threat, the Reapers, teased since the season 10c episode “Home Sweet Home.”
It will be exciting to see where the next eight episodes lead things into the final season of the series.
The Walking Dead season 11 return
The Walking Dead will return with part two of season 11 on AMC on February 20. This premiere episode will be available one week early on AMC+.
The second part of this season is said to have a much different tone than part one. Showrunner Angela Kang talked to Entertainment Weekly and had this to say about the upcoming episodes:
I think it’s fair to say there’s an epic start with really big, cool things going on, but also a lot of emotional stuff. So 11B is going to have a pretty different vibe from 11A, which is not unusual for us in a season. We tend to kind of switch up some variables in every block. We’ll start to open up our world a little bit more and meet some more people and see what’s going on for everybody. And there’s going to be a really fun thriller vibe to the B block that we’ve been enjoying writing.
AMC synopsis for season 11 part two:
This February, The Walking Dead returns with many of our heroes fighting imminent hellfire under Reaper attack; while others battle Mother Nature’s torrential wrath in Alexandria. For all, their world is literally crashing down around them. Meanwhile, life in the Commonwealth is not as idyllic as it seems. For some, hope will be renewed. Others will be pushed past the point of no return. One truth holds tight: Lives hang in the balance with each decision drastically changing their future, their chances of survival, and the state of each community.
The Walking Dead Origins
AMC has announced that the mini-series The Walking Dead: Origins, which was previously only available to AMC+ subscribers, will air on Sundays leading up to the premiere.
This series consists of four episodes, each focusing on one character, with interviews and clips highlighting the character’s time on the series. These episodes will air at 9 p.m. ET on the following dates:
Daryl’s Story – Sunday, January 23
Maggie’s Story – Sunday, January 30
Negan’s Story – Sunday, February 6
Carol’s Story – Sunday, February 13
