Selena Gomez has come a long way since her Wizards of Waverly Place days, but look at her now. She’s a full-blown multi-hyphenate, with six studio albums, endless acting credits, and… oh yeah, Rare Beauty. We couldn’t be prouder.
The Only Murders in the Building actor brought a strong look in more ways than one at the SAG Awards on February 27. With a simple makeup look and her hair pulled back into a slick middle-parted bun, her manicure simple yet sophisticated manicure became the star of the show.
Her shimmering green nails, painted by celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik, perfectly contrasted her black Oscar de la Renta dress. Bachik took to Instagram to post the design and explain his step-by-step process for how he achieved the look.
“Started with my Ultimate Nail Care Set by @tweezerman for those perfect cuticles,” he wrote. The nail color, he revealed, is shade Ivy by The GelBottle Inc. After application, he completed the manicure with the nourishing cuticle oil by Hermès “for the perfect hydration.” The final look was more than successful: the pearlescent nails popped in comparison to Gomez’s understated makeup, as the vibrant green was the only color injected into her outfit.
Gomez later posted a few pictures of her full look to Instagram, with a couple of mirror selfies focused on her nails and two more up-close-and-personal glamour shots. She’s holding her iPhone close to the mirror in the images so the light reflects beautifully off of her nails — arguably the most playful part of her beauty look. But we can’t completely ignore her makeup, of course. She wore a neutral eye shadow with a nude lip color, and her glow is evident — we’re assuming she was wearing the Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer, as she tagged her brand’s account in the photo.
“Last night was such a magical one,” she wrote in the caption. “I couldn’t keep my heels on but I did manage to take a couple selfies.” Thank goodness she did.
