Angelina Jolie Set To Direct Revenge Drama Under New Film & TV Deal

Angelina Jolie has signed a three-year international film and TV deal with Fremantle and is set to direct her first project, Without Blood.

Angelina Jolie has signed a new, multi-year deal with Fremantle and is set to direct her first project, Without Blood, for the production company. Fremantle is well known for its unscripted content, but the distributor has produced several scripted dramas in recent years, including American Gods and The New Pope. Jolie recently joined the MCU as Thena in The Eternals and has stated that she is open to returning in subsequent films.

The Hollywood Reporter announced that Jolie has signed a three-year international filmmaking deal and her first project will be directing the film adaptation of Without Blood. Production is scheduled to begin in May and Jolie herself adapted the script from Alessandro Barrico’s acclaimed novel. Centered around one girl’s quest for revenge, Without Blood deals with the painful task of healing from the horrific brutalities of war.

This will be Jolie’s sixth time in the director’s chair, her first being for the documentary A Place In Time. Her most recent directorial credit is the adaptation of Loung Ung’s best-selling memoir, First They Killed My Father, which she stated was her “love letter to Cambodia.” From 2001 to 2012, Jolie represented the UNHCR as a Good Will Ambassador, becoming an important advocate on refugee matters. In 2012, she was appointed Special Envoy.

The humanitarian’s diplomatic endeavors have clearly informed her creative pursuits and Fremantle will support her efforts to champion important storytelling from diverse voices around the world. Audiences can look forward to seeing many internationally focused feature films, documentaries, and original series in which Angelina Jolie will either produce, direct, and/or star.
