A crew member on AMC's upcoming Tales of the Walking Dead spinoff series is currently in hospital following a boat-related set accident.

A crew member on AMC’s upcoming Tales of the Walking Dead was recently injured due to a boat-related accident on set.
As reported by Variety, the unnamed crew member was rushed to hospital on April 4 after the incident occurred shortly after wrapping filming for the day. While the details are currently sparse, sources suggest that the accident involved a riverboat and a plank that was acting as a bridge to the nearby pier. After falling into the water, the crew member was rushed to a local hospital in a stable condition. The cause of the accident remains unknown but a marine safety crew is investigating a possible cause. Production on Tales of the Walking Dead was temporarily paused but resumed on April 6.
Tales of the Walking Dead is a six-episode anthology spinoff series that will focus on telling original, one-off stories set within AMC’s post-apocalyptic universe. Channing Powell is serving as showrunner while Walking Dead Universe CCO Scott M. Gimple will act as an executive producer. While little is known about the actual content of the series, AMC has confirmed that it’s scheduled to release in summer 2022.
Speaking on the upcoming series, AMC Studios President of Original Programming Dan McDermott expressed his excitement about expanding the post-apocalyptic universe. “We see so much potential for a wide range of rich and compelling storytelling in this world, and the episodic anthology format of Tales of the Walking Dead will give us the flexibility to entertain existing fans and also offer an entry point for new viewers, especially on streaming platforms,” McDermott said. “We have seen the appeal of this format in television classics like The Twilight Zone and, more recently, Black Mirror, and are excited to engage with fans in this new way, against the backdrop of this very unique and engrossing world.”
Tales of the Walking Dead has already managed to accrue a star-studded cast. Anthony Edwards, Parker Posey, Terry Crews, Poppy Liu and Jillian Bell are all set to star in the series although it’s unknown if they will appear in the same episodes. Fans can also look forward to the return of Samantha Morton, who will be reprising her role as Alpha.
AMC has yet to reveal a specific release date for Tales of the Walking Dead but audiences can expect it to debut in 2022.
