From Wonder Woman To Hollywood Glamour Girl … Gal Gadot Takes On A New Role

Gal Gadot is retiring from her role as Wonder Woman in favor of a new role as another kind of powerful woman: Hedy Lamarr.
UPI reports that Apple announced Thursday that Gal Gadot will play Lamarr as well as executive produce the series.
Ordered straight to series, Hedy Lamarr — as it is named — will be eight episodes and will cover 30 years, from Lamarr’s escape from Vienna to her downfall in the late ‘50s, and everything in between.
Who Is Hedy Lamarr?
Hedy Lamarr starred in a number of films, including Algiers, Lady of the Tropics, Comrade X, Ziegfeld Girl, Samson and Delilah and The Story of Mankind.
Gadot is best known for her role as Wonder Woman. She is also a producer on the sequel Wonder Woman 1984.
Gadot developed the Lamarr series with her partner Jason Varsano at their company, Pilot Wave. Sarah Treem ,The Affair co-creator, will write and produce the series.
Lamarr Was Also The Mind Behind Wi-Fi
“The brains of people are more interesting than the looks I think,” the Hollywood actress said in 1990, as reported by Forbes.
You see, Lamarr wasn’t just an actress, she was also an inventor and it is her technical mind that is her greatest legacy.
Lamarr filed for frequency-hopping technology in 1941 that ultimately became a precursor to the secure wi-fi now used by billions of people around the world.
She was once even linked to aviation mogul Howard Hughes, with the pair sharing a mutual love of invention.
Gal Gadot, A Perfect Fit?
The series will follow the true story of the Hollywood glamour girl, spanning three decades from Lamarr’s escape from pre-war Vienna to her success in the Golden Age of Hollywood. It will also touch on her fall at the dawn of the Cold War. Hedy Lamarr will also dive in to the star’s life as an inventor and the profound legacy she left behind.
Without a doubt, Gal Gadot is the perfect fit for this role. A former model and once crowned Miss Israel prior to getting into acting, Gadot has the beauty, the brains and the wisdom to nail the part of Lamarr.
She’s also starred in her own fair share of big movies, including Fast & Furious, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and of course, Wonder Woman, which went on to gross over $820 million worldwide.
