Daryl Spinoff’s Returning Walking Dead Characters Teased By Norman Reedus

Star Norman Reedus teases that characters that have gone missing from The Walking Dead could show up in the upcoming Daryl-focused spinoff.

Norman Reedus teases which characters from The Walking Dead audiences can expect to show up in the upcoming Daryl spinoff. First introduced back in 2010 in the first season of AMC’s The Walking Dead, Reedus’ Daryl Dixon quickly became a fan favorite. The crossbow-wielding survivor is one of the longest-lasting characters still on the show, alongside Melissa McBride’s Carol. The Walking Dead is now on its eleventh and final season, the second part of which concluded earlier this year in April. A release date for the third and final part has yet to be confirmed.

Although The Walking Dead may be coming to an end, it’s already been confirmed that a number of spinoff shows are in the works. In addition to a Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) spinoff, Isle of the Dead, it was also confirmed that Daryl and Carol would return in another, currently untitled series. McBride later exited the show in order to spend more time with her family, citing the spinoff’s European filming location as a key reason. Details regarding the Daryl-focused Walking Dead series remain hard to come by, but it has been described as lighter in tone than the main show.

In a recent interview with Leo Edit, Reedus teases that audiences might be seeing some familiar faces turn up in Daryl’s Walking Dead spinoff show. While the actor seems confident that McBride’s Carol will turn up in the series at some point down the line, Reedus also says, without naming any names, that Daryl could run into characters that have been absent from The Walking Dead for a while. Check out Reedus’ full comment below:

“Sure, there’s gonna be a spinoff, and it’ll be me alone, and I’ll be on this mission, and [Daryl and Carol] will come back together later on down the road, of course; and other characters that have gone missing, I’ll probably run into.”

Throughout its 11-season run, a number of beloved characters have died on the zombie survival drama, either from walker bites or from human enemies. Several, however, have simply gone missing. With fan-favorite Walking Dead sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) leaving the show in season 9, Reedus could be teasing a reunion between the two at some point in the show. Michonne (Danai Gurira), similarly left the show, electing to try to find Rick after finding out that he survived the seemingly fatal bridge explosion in season 9. Corey Hawkins’ Heath has also been mysteriously absent from the show since season 7.

Although he doesn’t reveal any concrete information about who Daryl could run into on his travels in Europe, Reedus’ comment is sure to please longtime fans of the show. Rick, in particular, would be a welcome sight for many viewers, especially considering the character was (and still is) supposed to get his own series of spinoff films. It’s currently unknown when the Daryl spinoff show will air but, at the very least, fans of The Walking Dead can now be confident that a handful of familiar faces will be showing up at some point in the series.
