Her popularity rose following the film, The Rum Diary, alongside her ex-husband Johnny Depp. Though the movie wasn’t really a success, her romance with her co-star made her even more popular.
However, it appears that Johnny wasn’t her role model in acting. As her career and romantic relationship simultaneously flourished, Amber at one point revealed who is her inspiration as an actress. She said she wanted a career like Johnny’s longtime friend, Angelina Jolie. Here’s why she mentioned the A-list star as her inspiration.

When asked in an interview while promoting her film Paranoia if there were any actors she admired, she instantly mentioned Angelina Jolie as her inspiration. “I can’t think of anyone who’s better accomplished the kind of trajectory I admire better than Angelina Jolie,” she revealed.
She further explained, “She’s really parlayed life in the public eye and used it to her advantage as opposed to just living life as a recluse because you feel taken advantage of by the general public and the paparazzi-obsessed culture.”
The 2013 interview, which remains available on YouTube, has since obtained more than 700,000 views. It has also received over 3,500 likes and more than 1,700 comments. Several netizens appear to have slammed Amber Heard because of her statement during the interview. With regard to her mentioning the name of Angelina Jolie, some even noted that it was an “insult.”
One commented that it is insulting to the Maleficent star that her name is “in the same sentence” as Amber’s. “Not only is [Jolie] breathtakingly beautiful but the grace she carries herself with, and the heart she possesses is incomparable,” the netizen wrote.
