REPORT: Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman Will Factor Into Upcoming DC Movies
Film reporter Umberto Gonzalez claims that Gal Gadot will reprise the Wonder Woman role in multiple upcoming DC Extended Universe projects.
A new report claims that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will factor into several upcoming DC Extended Universe movies.
Entertainment journalist and credible source Umberto Gonzalez discussed the possibility of Gadot reprising her most famous role during a recent Twitter Spaces session. “[Gadot’s] in a couple other movies, and I’m not going to spoil them… She’s in a couple of other movies as well, currently, that are due for release,” he said. “She’s a team player, so I think she’s going to be around for a while, I think it’s safe to say.”
Gadot’s next DCEU appearance will be a cameo in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The star is also currently collaborating with director Patty Jenkins on the third Wonder Woman movie, which she recently assured fans is still in active development. “We’re actually in the mix of working on the script and getting the third one made, so it’s all wheels are working and turning and I’m super, super excited for the fans to come and watch Wonder Woman 3 once it’s made,” Gadot said.
What Does the Future of the DCEU Look Like?
Although Wonder Woman’s place in the DCEU is apparently locked in, the future of the wider shared universe itself is much less certain. Notably, Warner Bros.’ recent decision to cancel Batgirl sent shockwaves through the industry, although the studio downplayed the move as a “strategic shift as it relates to the DC universe.” Unnamed insiders have since backed Warner Bros.’ official position, insisting that Batgirl was axed not due to issues with its quality but rather because it didn’t boast the “blockbuster scale” expected of all upcoming DCEU movies.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav later opened up about his plan for the DCEU going forward, which is modeled on Marvel Studios original roadmap for the hugely successful Marvel Cinematic Universe. “We have done a reset. We’ve structured the business. There will be a team with a 10-year plan focusing just on DC. It’s very similar to the structure that Alan Horne and Bob Iger put together very effectively with [Marvel Studios President] Kevin Feige at Disney,” he said.
Zaslav also addressed fans’ concerns regarding several yet-to-be-released DCEU films, including Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Black Adam and The Flash. According to the CEO, all three projects will still arrive in cinemas as planned and Warner Bros. is currently looking at ways to improve each of them. “We think they are terrific, and we think we can make them even better,” Zaslav said.
