Black Widow: Scarlett Johansson stars in latest Marvel trailer
Scarlett Johansson is most known for her role in the Marvel Universe as Black Widow but stepped into the film industry at just nine years old. Her career has seen her take on jobs such as the Marvel Universe, Lucy, Hitchcock, He’s Just Not That Into You and The Other Boleyn Girl. However, she has recently admitted that starring in movies from a young age made people look at her with an older perspective than what she was, leaving her susceptible to being “hypersexualised”.
The movie star joined Dax Shephard on his Armchair Expert podcast and began to delve into her life as a young movie star.
She explained: “I kind of became objectified and pigeonholed in this way where I felt like I wasn’t getting offers for work for things that I wanted to do and I remember thinking to myself, ‘I think people think I’m 40 years old?’
“It somehow stopped being something that was desirable and something I was fighting against.”
Scarlett continued: “I think everybody thought I was older and I had been doing it for a long time, I [was] kind of pigeonholed into this weird hypersexualized thing.

“I felt like it was over kind of…like that’s the kind of career you’ve had, these are the kind of roles played, and I was like, this is it.
“So it was scary at that time. In a weird way, I was like, ‘Is this it?’ And I attributed it to the fact that people thought I was much, much older than I was.”
She went on to express that she felt like actresses aren’t pigeonholed in the same way anymore, especially as she felt she was when she was younger.
“Now, I see younger actors that are in their 20s. It feels like they’re allowed to be all these different things.

“It’s another tie, too. We’re not even allowed to really pigeonhole other actors anymore, thankfully, right? People are much more dynamic,” she expressed.

She is now happily married to Colin Jolt and gave birth to her second child, first with Colin, a son named Cosmo.
She initially kept her pregnancy under wraps, which saw her miss out on the red carpet event for Black Widow and was being filmed from the waist up.
A source told Page Six in July 2022: “Scarlett is pregnant but has been keeping it very quiet. She has been keeping a very low profile.
“She hasn’t been doing many interviews or events to promote Black Widow which is surprising since it is a huge Marvel/Disney release and she is both the star and an executive producer.”
