Kim Kardashian celebrated the launch of her highly-anticipated Skims men’s line in the most epic way – by appearing on the cover of GQ‘s Men of the Year issue! The 43-year-old Kardashians star was named GQ‘s ‘Tycoon of the Year’ and follows in the footsteps of other female A-listers such as Rihanna, Jennifer Aniston and Scarlett Johansson, to name just three, to grace the annual issue’s prestigious cover.
Actor Jacob Elordi and rapper Travis Scott also have their own solo covers, but Kim’s one is undoubtedly our fave! The December issue – i.e., the Men of the Year issue – hits newsstands on November 28th, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it!
The trainee lawyer posed for a number of jaw-dropping pictures for the cover and accompanying editorial. In the cover shot, the Skims founder is rocking an oversized The Row suit jacket teamed with a Brioni pinstripe shirt and a Paul Stuart black and white printed tie. In lieu of a handbag or equivalent accessory, Kim is posing with a big bag of Cheetos, and is licking off orange Cheetos dust from her thumb.
Kim Kardashian Talks About Launching Skims Men’s Line In ‘GQ’ ‘Men Of The Year’ Issue
In the magazine, the mom-of-four talked about what led to her launching a men’s version of her iconic shapewear line. She told the mag that she believes men also have insecurities about their bodies “whether they talk about them or not,” and said she “wanted men to find out what all the hype is about.”
Skims co-founder Jens Grede sang Kim’s praises inside the mag, saying: “Kim is the Michael Jordan of the influencer generation. Many 19-year-olds who never watched Jordan play and don’t play basketball themselves wear Air Jordan sneakers every day. Maybe you don’t watch The Kardashians every single week, but you’re a Skims customer.”
Kim announced her new line of men’s briefs, boxers, tanks and tees with an ad campaign starring Neymar Jr., Nick Bosa and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and then revealed that Skims was the official underwear partner of the NBA, WNBA and USA Basketball. If that doesn’t prove that she deserves the ‘Tycoon of the Year’ title, we don’t know what will!
“I am incredibly proud of Skims partnership with the NBA, as it is a reflection of Skims growing influence on culture,” Kardashian said in a press release. “Together, Skims and the NBA will connect people of all backgrounds through fashion, sport, and talent, and I look forward to seeing the partnership thrive.”
Kim Kardashian Reveals How She Is Passing Her Late Father’s Work Ethic Down To Her Children
Another interesting thing Kim discussed with GQ contributor Sean Manning was her late father Robert Kardashian‘s work ethic. She recalled: “My dad had me sign a contract for everything. When I got a car, I needed to have it washed once a week, make sure that it had enough gas and that I didn’t run it into the ground. It was a gift he gave me at 16, but I had responsibilities.”
And the Skkn by Kim founder revealed that she wanted to pass on that same work ethic to her four children – North, 10, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4. Talking about how her and Kanye West‘s eldest daughter North West sets up a lemonade stand at the end of their street most weekends, Kim said: “She gets a huge pitcher and fills it, puts it in her wagon, and goes down to the corner. She has a table and chairs and fans to keep herself cool.”
“She makes signs. She stays there hours and hours,” Kim continued. “Her friends help, so she splits the money with them. If a random person stops, she will charge them only $2. If she knows you, she will fully scam you. I’ll get calls from my friends saying she charged them $20 for a lemonade. She’ll grab their $20 and say, ‘I don’t have any change.'”
