Gal Gadot Voiced Discontent With Women’s Portrayal in Movies
During an interview with TheStndrd, Hollywood star Gal Gadot expressed her frustration with the lack of strong female characters in films. Claiming that women in films are often portrayed as “poor-hearted girls,” she opened up about her desire to diversify female representation on the silver screen.
“There aren’t enough good roles for strong women,” she said before adding, “Most of the female characters you see in films today are the poor heartbroken girl.” The Red Notice star also highlighted the need for more female writers to bring depth and empowerment to female characters in movies.
“I wish we had more female writers,” she told TheStndrd, as per Cosmopolitan. Talking about her character in the Fast and Furious film series, she shared that she is proud to play an empowering woman like Gisele Yashar. “That’s why I’m so proud of the Fast movies. I feel like Gisele is an empowering woman,” she said.
Gadot was last seen in Netflix’s spy thriller Heart of Stone, in which she portrayed the role of an international intelligence operative. She is expected to reprise her role as Gisele Yashar in the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise as well.
